The tag of a 'comedian' doesn't go down well with Rajpal Yadav. Call him this and you are bound to face his ire. During his recent trip to Ludhiana for the promotion of his film, Mere Dost Picture Abhi Baki Hai, someone happened to do just this - call him Bollywood's funny man. And Rajpal almost lashed out, "If you call me a comedian, you have not seen my films."
To the mild counter argument that most of his roles would still be counted in the sphere of comedy, pat came the reply, "I have done so much more than just comedy. I have done roles ranging from negative to character to serious. I am a versatile actor and it's high time people stop using the 'funny man' tag for me."
Reminding the reporter of his stint as a villain in a number of films such as Jungle (for which he won the Screen Best Actor Award in a Negative Role) and lead roles in films like Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahati Hoon and Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh (for which he was nominated for Screen Best Actor Award), an irked Yadav continued, "I have done over 150 films in my near-12 years of Bollywood career, out of which only half are comedy roles. I don't understand why I am being tagged thus."
Well, even if the actor's mere mention evokes a smile on the faces, the actor himself doesn't seem to be too happy about this.
