The returning officer (RO)-cum-SDO of Pataudi on Saturday issued two notices to Bollywood stars Sharmila Tagore and her son, Saif Ali Khan for the violating model code of conduct and accusing them of using loudspeaker, DJ and organising a cocktail party in Pataudi Mahal in Pataudi on Friday evening, without necessary permissions.
As per directions of the Election Commission of India, the model code of conduct is applicable in Haryana till October 22.
Issuing him a notice for prima facie violating the model code of conduct, RO Virender Chaudhary gave both Sharmila and Saif time till 3pm on October 21 to respond to it, failing which the officials will take action against the mother-son duo.
The actors have been sent notices under the Representation of People Act 1951, Noise pollution (regulation and control) Rules, 2000, Environment Protection Act, 1986, and Punjab Excise Act, 1914.
"They had organised two parties on the nights of October 16 and 17. We had received several calls from nearby residents complaining about the noise. The election observer, Ajai Shankar Pandey also received complaints about the violation of the model code of conduct," said Virender Chaudhary, returning officer, Pataudi.
