Notorious criminal held in Sonepat

Sonepat police on Monday evening have arrested a dreaded criminal who was wanted in dozens of non-bailable cases.


Assailant, who has been identified as Rakesh alias Lamboo, a resident of Siwah village of Sonepat district, was wanted in murder, attempt to murder, dacoity and loot crimes at Fatehabad, Hisar, Karnal, Jind, Panipat and Sonepat.

Police said that the accused was running with one lakh cash and was arrested by the joint efforts of sadar police, special investigation team (SIT) and Bahalgarh police, after police laid a 'naka' near Rathdhana village on Narela road.

After being chased by the police, he fired gun shots to escape, but was nabbed.

Police said that the accused was wanted in 13 criminal cases. He had allegedly killed three persons in Jind, one in Hisar and Fatehabad before sometime. Local court has sent the accused to police custody after being produced on Tuesday.
