Chandigarh residents can now pay their water and electricity bills online.
Union territory adviser Vijay Kumar Dev on Thursday inaugurated the e-payment portal, http://sampark.chd.nic.in/, through which residents can pay their water and electricity dues.
Information technology (IT) secretary SB Deepak Kumar said the water and electricity bills could now be paid through net banking, debit card or credit card. This facility would soon be available through a mobile phone app.
The adviser announced that more such e-payment facilities would be made available before October 2.
IT director Prince Dhawan said the e-payment service was being provided in association with Punjab National Bank through its payment aggregator PayU for the collection of electricity and water bills. At present, 42 banks have been added for e-payment through net banking, while payment can be made through debit/credit card of any bank.
Residents will have to pay the following additional charges while making e-payment: Through internet banking, Rs 10 will be charged per transaction; through debit card, 0.75% for payments up to Rs 2,000 will be charged and 1% for payments above Rs 2,000; through credit card 1% of the transaction amount plus service tax at the rate of 14% will be charged.
HOW TO PAY BILLS ONLINE
Step 1: Access www.sampark.chd.nic.in and sign up by entering details sought. On submission, user ID and password will be created that will be sent to user via SMS.
Step 2: Login with user ID and password, enter account number of electricity/power bill.
Step 3: Select payment option such as net banking, debit card or credit card.
Step 4: On completion of transaction, you can print receipt with transaction reference number.
