A Class-10 student has come up with footwear that can help charge his cell phone.Rohan Kumar Jha, a student of SN High School Lagma Saharsa, Bihar, showcasing his model at the national science exhibition at the Leisure Valley, Sector 10, in Chandigarh on Tuesday.
Called the ‘Multi Purpose Charging Shoe’ this footwear, invented by Rohan Kumar Jha, a student of SN High School Lagma Saharsa, Bihar, can not only charge cell phone, but also has a torch attached to it.
The teenager’s innovation managed to grab many an eye ball at the 41st Jawahar Lal Nehru National Science, Mathematics and Environment exhibition in Leisure Valley in Sector 10.
Jha has also got a solution for smelly socks: an exhaust fan attached to the shoe. The shoe converts muscle energy into electric energy, thus making the shoe able to charge phones.
Rohan’s motivation behind the ingenious footwear is the poor poor infrastructure facilities and lack of electricity in the rural areas of the state.
“People are not rich in Bihar. Villages accommodate a large population of people and there is no electricity most of the time. Lights would suddenly go off for hours after sunset and I wanted a cheap solution for the problem,” said Rohan.
“World’s fossil fuels are fast depleting. Global warming is becoming a reality. Therefore, I wanted to look for an alternate and safe source of energy”, said Rohan. NCERT Director BK Tripathi appreciated his efforts of Rohan and encouraged him to come up with such innovations that can help the country.
“These children are treasures of our county and thus we tend to pay special attention to them,” said Tripathi.
