NRI's house theft case cracked, two held
Police claimed to have solved the case relating to the theft in a non-resident Indian's (NRI) house at Morinda city in Rupnagar district on Sunday and have arrested the two accused in this regard.
Police claimed to have solved the case relating to the theft in a non-resident Indian's (NRI) house at Morinda city in Rupnagar district on Sunday and have arrested the two accused in this regard.
The accused have been identified as Jatinder Singh of Ghulal village in Ludhiana district, who is also a relative of Jasbir Singh (victim), and Bhupinder Singh alias Bablu of the same village as Jatinder.
The two had stolen jewellery and cash worth `20 lakh, which included 600 gm gold and 5,000 US dollars, from Jasbir's house at Darpan Enclave in Morinda city, on August 3.
According to Rupnagar senior superintendent of police (SSP) Varinder Pal Singh, a case under Sections 454, 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the two accused.
The SSP said the stolen jewellery and cash had also been recovered.
