As the student council elections approaches, The National Students Union of India (NSUI) held a protest outside a hostel on Monday evening demanding a separate reading hall at the South Campus. The student body also wanted PU to withdraw notices issued to students directing them to vacate hostel rooms.

Activists said students staying at the South Campus had to go the North Campus to use the reading hall. PU authorities promised to look into the issue, said NSUI, who also said they have been assured that girl students would be allowed to stay in hostels.
