A local court on Thursday sent a 37-year-old man to two-day police remand; he was arrested for pasting obscene posters of a young woman carrying her mobile phone number at a public place in Sector 21 and her paying guest accommodation in Sector 18.

The police had sought the remand of accused Varinder Goyal on the ground that printers and scanners used in the act were yet to be recovered.

The accused is married with two children and runs a marriage bureau. He had twice put up the posters as the victim had refused to agree to his marriage proposal. Posters of the 25-year-old woman, employed with a private firm, were also put up earlier last month in Sectors 32 and 34.

A case had been registered under Sections 294, 509 and 34 of the IPC at the Sector-34 police station in connection with defacement of public property.
