A one-year-old boy went missing from Shivalik Garden in Manimajra here on Monday.

The child, Jeevan, had gone out to play with his elder brother Sunil, 10, around 4pm. Sunil told the police that they were playing in the park when a woman wearing a red suit approached them. She took out Rs 10 and handed it to him asking him to get peanuts. When Sunil returned, he found Jeevan missing.

Assistant superintendent of police (ASP, east) Parvinder Singh said investigations into the case were on and efforts were being made to track the child.

He added so far they had not got any details about the kidnapper.

Jeevan’s father Jit Bahadur, who hails from Nepal, is a butcher. He said he did not know when his sons went out to play. They have been anxiously searching for Jeevan since the time he went missing.

The police have registered a case under section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the unidentified accused at the Manimajra police station.

The police were also contacting the CTU drivers and conductors to ascertain if the child was taken away in a bus.
