Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) on Thursday claimed that its Online Consent Management & Monitoring System launched in December 2011 was proving to be a success.
The system involves the entire process from submission to approval of applications concerning Consent To Establish (CTE) and Consent To Operate (CTO) by industries.
"About 85 industries have been registered to get a user name and password since OCMMS got operational and 65 consent applications have been received," said Viswajeet Khanna, principal secretary in the department of science, technology, environment and non-conventional energy.
"The CTE applications of PepsiCo India Holdings, Sangrur and Tara Health Foods, Malerkotla, and CTO (air/water) applications of JR Agrotech, Gurdaspur, Kangaro Tools Focal Point, Ludhiana, Pagro Frozen Foods, Fatehgarh Sahib, and ST Cottex Exports, Machhiwara have been granted online consent through this newly launched service." he added.
Applications from the login account of the industry representative are moved automatically to the concerned regional officer's account where they are processed in a time-bound manner, Khanna said.
The status of the application is uploaded on the login page of the applicant industry against the filled application.
"The officials have generated a downloadable certificate and the industries have got their certificate without visiting the PPCB office," said Ravinder Singh, chairman of the PPCB.
"The system is being used by 101 technical staff at 13 regional offices, seven ay the zonal offices and six at the PPCB headquarters in Patiala, besides the applicant industries."
