The Punjab government has initiated online registration in schools affiliated to the Punjab School Education Board from the current academic session. Education minister Sikander Singh Maluka said all registrations in this session would be online and free of cost.
Around 7 lakh students studying in more than 9,000 schools would be benefited with this new initiative. Earlier, it used to take more than three months for a student to get registered.
The minister said students who migrated or shifted to other boards and schools or vice-versa could be tracked easily with online registration. About 17,500 students had shifted from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to the state board last year.
