Over 11,500 prospectuses were sold on the first day of the Class 11 admission process in UT government schools on Wednesday.
The sale of prospectus began at 9am in six government schools—Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS)-10, GMSSS- Sector20B, GMSSS-28, GMSSS -37B, GMSSS-46 and GMSSS-Modern Housing Complex, Manimajraall of which saw a heavy rush of students on day one. Each prospectus cost 130.
Officials said that schools have sufficient stock of prospectus, which details the courses offered by Chandigarh government schools and the admission schedule and procedure.Students can submit their for ms by June 20 before 1pm at any of the aforementioned schools.
“A candidate can list codes of up to 15 government schools and streams of his choice in the registration form, in the order of preference,” said the official.
Like last year, gover nment s chool s wil l have a total of 12,500 seats up for g rabs this year also. Of this, nearly 6,000 s e at s are in the humanities stream, 1,800 seats in commerce and vocational courses and 3,000 seats in the science stream.
The department will upload a common merit list as well as other particulars of candidates on June 27 at www.chdeducation.gov.in for verification.
Any objections with regard to the details of students can be raised at GMSSS-16 and GMSSS19 by June 28 up to 2pm. A list indicating the allotment of schools and streams will be displayed on July 1 and the classes will commence from July 4.
The department will hold another round of counselling for seats that remain vacant in the last week of July.
