More than 150 cases of diarrhoea have been reported at Sector-19 dispensary till Saturday afternoon, rising from the 119 that had visited the hospital on Friday. Contaminated water supply has led to the disease.

Patients are also reporting at General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula and some are also reporting at private hospitals and clinics.
Dr KK Kapoor, who is holding the fort at Sector 19 dispensary, said, “Patients are being discharged within 4-6 hours, but there are some who are being kept for over a day as well. Doctors are available round the clock as are nurses and pharmacists.”
Deputy commissioner SS Phulia said: “There are five tubewells in Sector 19, which are being handled by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA). We have not found any leakage in supply so far. It appears that the ground water might have got contaminated. The results of water samples will be known only later. Chlorine tablets have been distributed again. We have identified the areas reporting higher incidence of cases.”
Dr VK Bansal, chief medical officer, Panchkula, said, “We have formed 12 teams to distribute chlorine tablets along with an ORS solution. All are being advised to report to a doctor even in the case of a minor complication.”
Later, Panchkula MLA DK Bansal visited the General Hospital.
Arsh, 10, was at the Sector-19 dispensary with diarhoea. “We got information about the diarrhoea outbreak quite late. We are drinking only mineral water now since last night,” said Kumar.
