A total of 16,090 prospectuses have been sold by the UT education department in seven days for 12,925 seats available in the city government schools for admission to Class 11.
There are 6,000 seats for humanities, 3,025 for science, 1,900 for commerce and 2,000 for vocational studies in 37 senior secondary schools in the city.
A total of 1,286 prospectuses were sold on Wednesday at six designated schools by the department. Meanwhile, the department had received 2,553 application forms for admissions to Class 11 in various government schools.
Government Model Senior Secondary School, Modern Housing Complex, Mani Majra, received 600 application forms, Government Model Senior Secondary Schools, Sector 40, received 400 admission forms, GMSSS, Sector 10, received 581 forms, GMSSS, Sector 46, received 600 forms, GMSSS, Sector 28, received 132 application forms and GMSSS, Sector 20, received 240 admission forms on Wednesday.
The education department has printed a total of 20,000 forms this year. Candidates who get through the first round of counselling would be able to submit the registration form along with their choice of school and stream by June 20, 1 pm. A common merit list would be displayed at the official website www.chdeducation.gov.in on June 26.
Students who would not able to get admission in school or stream of their choice after the first round of counselling would have the option of submitting forms after changing their stream during the second round of the counselling between July 16 and 18. The second merit list would be displayed on the website on July 24.
The candidates in the third round of counselling would have to submit their forms either on August 13 or 14.
