An official spokesperson said that the checking was a part of the ongoing campaign initiated by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to ensure punctuality in government offices in order to serve the citizens efficiently.

He said more inspections would be conducted in future and that irregularity and absenteeism would not be tolerated.

Appropriate action will be initiated against erring officials, he said.
