P'kula-based woman raped by travel agent in Sangrur

A married woman from Panchkula in Haryana was allegedly raped by an Ambala-based travel agent in Sangrur. 

According to Sangrur (city) police station in-charge, the woman alleged that a travel agent from Ambala Jatinder Singh had called her to his office on  April 20 located in Kaulan Park, Sangrur, to hand over her passport for which she had applied earlier. But when she reached his shop, he allegedly raped her on Monday night.

The SHO said, on the complaint of the woman, a case has been registered under Section 376 of the IPC against Jatinder Singh, but after filing the complaint the woman did not come for the medical examination which is required to arrest the accused.

"Since morning, I have made several calls to the woman, but she has not turned up for the medical examination", the SHO said, adding, "Without medical examination, we cannot arrest the accused."

It is worth mentioning here that after getting the information of the incident on Monday, several attempts were made to contact the SHO for information, but he could not be accessed. 

Then, late at night, he circulated the messages to selected mediapersons about the registration of an FIR and also disclosed the complete identity of the victim.
