The district has met the long-pending demand of Panchkula residents by introducing two new police posts in the district.

One of them has already started operation at General Hospital, Sector 6, under a head constable here on Wednesday, while the other will open up at Amravati Enclave on Thursday and will be headed by an assistant sub-inspector (ASI).

The space for police post at the General Hospital was provided by the hospital, while at Amravati Enclave, the society provided the space.

"For both the police posts, we have shifted the staff from the existing strength," said deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Ashwin Shenvi.

Another proposal of bringing Raipur Rani police station under the police district of Panchkula has been pending. Residents of Raipur Rani have been demanding that the police station be brought under DCP Panchkula, who heads the police district.

The proposal of converting Barwala police post to police station is also pending.
