P’kula girl alleges rape by Mohali resident

A zero FIR was registered against a city resident for raping a Panchkula-based girl on Thursday late. The accused had been identified as Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Phase 10 in SAS Nagar.

According to the victim, the incident had taken place on last October 9 when the accused invited the victim to a guest house near Parwanoo regarding some work where he allegedly raped her and threatened of dire consequences if she disclosed the matter. She also alleged the accused again blackmailed her, saying he would disclose the incident and raped her again after which, the victim finally told her parents and zero FIR was lodged in Phase-11 police station in SAS Nagar.

Police said the accused works with a private company in SAS Nagar and is a drug addict.

SP Harpal Singh Sandhu said, “We are conducting raids to nab him and his photographs have been forwarded to all police stations of the city. As the victim resides in Panchkula and the crime took place in Parwanoo (HP), the case would be jointly investigated by SAS Nagar and Panchkula police.

The medical examination of the victim has also confirmed the rape. Meanwhile, a case under sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 366 (inducing woman to compel her for marriage), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC has been registered.
