With the Sector 19 of Panchkula grappling with an outbreak of diarrhoea, Panchkula MLA DK Bansal wrote to chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda blaming Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) for contamination of water.
In a press statement issued today, Bansal said that HUDA officials had failed to locate the leak in the water supply, which resulted in the outbreak. Blaming HUDA chief administrator AK Singh, he said the matter had not been taken seriously.
“I have requested the CM to take action against the chief administrator and provide compensation to the family of Shashi Bala, who died of diarrhoea,” he said, adding that those affected must also be compensated.

Meanwhile, diarrhoea cases continue to be reported at the Sector 19 dispensary. Dr VK Bansal, chief medical officer, Panchkula, said that over 60 cases of diarrhoea were reported on Tuesday alone, bringing the total number of cases to 350.
