The Punjab unit of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Punjab Agro Juices Limited (PAJL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for provision of juice and snack kiosks at select Indian Oil retail outlets in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh. PAJL is a special-purpose vehicle set up by the Punjab government for processing of fruits and vegetables.
While signing the MoU, IOCL executive director PK Das said the deal was aimed at providing better services and facilities to its customers at retail outlets.
"Indian Oil, while upgrading the basic infrastructure at retail outlets in terms of latest
multi-product dispensing units (MPDs), canopy, driveway, customers friendly layout and automation was also focused on improving the soft services at the outlets and provision of these kiosks would add to the customers delight at the retail outlet," he said.
PAJL chief executive officer Bhushan Goyal said PAJL had launched kinnow, guava, litchi and mixed fruit juices and concentrates under its own brand name of Punjuice.
"We will also launch tomato, pear, amla, watermelon and black carrot products," he added.
The opening of such kiosks will not only generate employment opportunities in the region but will also help farmers get a remunerative price of their horticulture produce, thereby helping in state's objective of crop diversification.
