Police have booked an Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) councillor, Vinod Kumar, for allegedly beating up a couple in Beed Ghaggar village on Monday.

According to a complaint filed by one of them, the incident occurred on December 3 night when Vinod came to their house accompanied by some other men and assaulted the couple, identified as Satto and Mohsi, after verbally abusing them and breaking furniture inside the house. Both along with their family members left the village the same day.

Satto told the police that Vinod assaulted them after an argument over the burial of a pig. She said her two sons were not present at the house at the time of the incident.

Following her complaint, the police filed a criminal case against the intruders. “We’ve booked Vinod and the others for criminal intimidation, voluntarily causing hurt, trespassing, mischief causing damage and rioting while armed with a deadly weapon. Injuries inflicted on the couple have been confirmed and we’re investigating the matter,” said Chandimandir SHO inspector Arvind Kumar.

Vinod is councillor for ward no 7 that comprises the localities of Beed Ghaggar, Kharakmangoli, Gumthala and Chowki villages.
