With a view to provide a cultural soul to the fast growing city of Panchkula, deputy commissioner Vivek Atray announced the launch of Pancham, the Panchkula Art and Music Society, at the mini-secretariat on Friday.
Presiding over the first meeting of the society, Atray, himself a prolific novelist, disclosed that the society would organise regular musical and cultural events in Panchkula district throughout the year.
The society would also encourage participation from all sections of society and all age of groups in its activities.
Apart from musical programmes, art exhibitions, plays, workshops, photography competition, school- and college-level competitions and training programmes will be organised by the society in collaboration with department of cultural affairs, Haryana, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Panchkula municipal corporation and other such bodies. He said Panchkula and Kalka MLAs would be patrons of Pancham Society.
SP Arora, additional deputy commissioner-cum-municipal commissioner, Mamta Saudha, assistant commissioner of police, Mahavir Kaushik, HUDA estate officer, Hema Sharma, sub-divisional magistrate, Panckula, Gauri Midha, sub-divisional magistrate, Kalka, SL Paul, lead district manager, Punjab National Bank, singer Dolly Guleria, artist Shiv Singh, veteran journalist and artist SD Sharma and eminent musician Subhash Ghosh were also present on this occasion.
