Panchkula LPG dealers, petrol pump owners to help boost polling

District election officer-cum-deputy commissioner, Panchkula, SS Phulia on Saturday sought help from petrol pump owners, gas agency dealers, members of Residents’ Welfare Associations and NGOs of the district regarding their cooperation for increasing vote percentage in the Lok Sabha elections.

While addressing them on Saturday, he said the petrol pump owners should ask their employees that while filling the petrol or diesel in vehicles, they must make people aware of casting vote. “Similarly, the gas agencies should write slogans on their delivery vans and also paste a slogan slip on cylinders while delivering them.

He also requested all residents’ welfare associations to install banners on the entry gates keeping in mind that the banners only contain the message of right to vote.

During the meeting JRM Pawar, awareness observer, Election Commission of India, congratulated Phulia for his efforts to increase the rate of polling during this election.

He said, “Haryana is one of the most-developed state of the country, but there is a need to motivate people for voting. So continuous effort from all districts is required to improve the number of voters in this assembly election,” he said.

SP Arora, additional deputy commissioner, informed the gathering that an exhibition was also bring organised by the Election Commission of India at Government College for Girls, Sector 14, Panchkula, from March 19 to 23 to make youth aware of their right of voting.

Arora requested all organisations to make their involvement in March 9 campaign.

In all 375 booths in the district, the officials concerned will be present from 9am to 5pm for registration of new votes.
