Panic gripped Sector 17 market on Monday evening after three unidentified people opened fire at a bouncer and his friend outside a discotheque near the five-star hotel Park Plaza.
Earlier in the evening, the accused had been tur ned out from the disco after they had created a ruckus in an inebriated state at a private party hosted by Rattan Lubana at the Buzz Lounge and Club in Sector 17.
The bouncer Rahul, 24, a resident of Sector 40, was injured as was his friend, Ludhiana resident Pardeep (25).
Upset over being thrown out of the disc, the three youngsters returned in a white Tata Safari with Multani embossed on the glass, when the party was over, at around 8:30pm and shot at Rahul.
No one could note down the registration number of t he vehicle that the accused were driving .
A shot was fired in the air and a bullet each was fired at Rahul and Pardeep. Rahul was injured in the hip, while Pardeep was injured in the thigh. They have been admitted to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) for treatment.
The eyewitnesses and the passers-by rushed the injured to the hospital.
The police claim to have identified the assailants and efforts are on to nab them.
A case under Section 302 (attempt to murder) has been registered at the Sector 17 police station.
DSP (Central) Ashish Kapoor said: “We cannot reveal details of the investigation right now, as it will alert the culprits. The accused will be behind bars soon. Such incidents cannot be tolerated.”
