Panjab University (PU) on Monday announced that it would conduct the entrance examination for admissions to bachelor of dental surgery (BDS) course on July 20.
The course is provided at the university's Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences (HSJIDS) and its prospectus will be available on the institute's website from June 30. A large number of candidates are expected to write the exam which is being held five days before the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT).
HSJIDS was established in 2006 and according to its director Dr Ashish Jain the institute will be providing master of dental surgery (MDS) course in five specialties from the upcoming academic session. Jain said the institute planned to also initiate research based programs from next year.
Jain informed that the institute had over 270 dental chairs which catered to over 450 patients every day and added that the institute also had tie-ups with other research organizations including the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET).
