Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday said the Punjab State War Heroes Memorial-cum-Museum coming up at Amritsar would be dedicated to the nation on August 15.
This museum is being built at a cost of Rs 130 crore in the memory of warriors from Punjab. Presiding over a high-level meeting to review the progress of the project, Badal directed the public works department to complete the work on time so the memorial could be inaugurated on Independence Day.
The CM said he recently met Union defence minister Manohar Parrikar seeking his support for getting the war equipment and memorabilia to be exhibited in the museum at the war memorial.
Badal also asked the sainik welfare department to tie-up with the Union information and broadcasting ministry's department of advertising and visual publicity (DAVP) to procure a documentary on the India-China and India-Pak wars, besides the Kargil operation in 1999.
