To help those who are yet to receive their passports due to certain objections, the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Chandigarh, will hold Passport adalats on its premises from November 20 to December 2. During these adalats, at least 2,000 files will be cleared by the passport office.
These adalats will be held at its regional office in Sector 34 on all working days from morning 9:30 am to 12:30pm.
Applicants who have submitted their passport applications on or before December 31, 2013 but not issued the passport yet, they will be required to attend the adalat. All districts under RPO Chandigarh - SAS Nagar, Chandigarh, Panchkula, Fatehgarh Sahib , Ropar, Bhatinda, Sangrur, Barnala, Patiala, Mansa, Ludhiana, Khanna, Jagraon, Moga. Ambala, Jind, Karnal, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Bhiwani, Yamuna Nagar, Hissar, Fatehabad, and Sirsa- will be covered during these passport adalats.
Rakesh Agrawal, regional passport officer, Chandigarh, said, "In 2013, the Chandigarh passport office received around 3.3 lakhs applications out of which, around 2,000 are still pending because of various objections in the files and non-submission of required documents.
A special drive is being conducted to clear these files. These applicants are being given the last opportunity to come to the passport office with original documents and file number receipt for further processing of their applications. The information is also being put on the website www.passportindia.gov.in."
He added that similar passport adalats will also be held for files submitted in 2014 in the coming weeks. Also, the files for 2010 and 2012 have already been disposed of by the office, he added.
