A number of defence officers attended Brar’s funeral. Brigadier RS Yadav and Air Commodore SK Indoria paid floral tributes to the former Army Aviation Corps pilot.
“It is all fate. He had to meet his end in such a manner. He was an ace pilot,” said Panchkula-based Air Commodore BS Brar (retd), father of the 48-year-old deceased pilot.
Col Brar, who took premature retirement from the army in 2010, was piloting a Pawan Hans helicopter that also had Tirap deputy commissioner Kamlesh Kumar Joshi on board. The helicopter that took off from Dibrugarh in Assam went missing around 11:15 am.
Col Brar’s body was recovered along with the body of two others on Wednesday after days of search operation. It was brought to Panchkula on Friday.
After taking retirement from defence forces, Col Brar had joined Pawan Hans Limited. He used to shuttle between Guwahati, Itanagar and Panchkula during his engagement with the company.
He was to return to his Sector-20 residence in Panchkula at an earlier date, but his operation was extended by two weeks.
