chandigarh Updated: Jun 20, 2012 15:20 IST

The Power Development Department in Jammu has asked people to use power judiciously in order to help maintain grid discipline and cope with low frequency.

The PDD authorities have appealed to consumers to bear the rotational curtailments which the department is forced to restore to in order to combat the situation arising due to low frequency.

Distress calls are being received from the Northern Grid and State Level Distribution Centre (SLDC) to maintain Grid discipline, a PDD spokesman said.

The curtailment would be effected in various areas of Jammu region divided into three groups, including the twin districts of Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, part of Kathua, Chenani, Ramnagar and areas of Udhampur district (Group A), Parts of Jammu, Smaba and Kathua districts (Group B) and Parts of Jammu District (Group C).

These areas shall be put to curtailment during any time of the day, he said adding that people should use power supply judiciously.
