PEC holds workshop on use of GIS app in transportation

A national workshop on application of Geographic Information System (GIS) in transportation systems was organised at PEC University of Technology Chandigarh on Friday. The objective of the workshop was to discuss critical issues and the challenges of public transport systems with the GIS application.

The speakers at the workshop included retired chief-engineer, ministry of transport, government of India, LR Kadiyali; former engineer-in-chief, Haryana HC, HC Sethi, executive director, Indian railways, New Delhi, VP Dudeja; professor, Indian Insititute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee Praveen Kumar and professor SN Sachdeva, professor, national institute of technology (NIT) Kurukshetra to evolve strategies for future policy action.

Presiding over workshop, the Director PEC University of Technology, Manoj K Arora emphasised that the transportation systems should make use of advanced tools like GIS in meeting the challenges and tackling transport-related issues.The event was attended by nearly 100 participants, which included urban planners and civil engineers from across the country.
