Singing/recording/being in a band happened… I started playing the guitar to impress my ex-girlfriend, but gradually, music became the love of my life.

First project/break: Working as an FOH Engineer for Chandigarh-based bands IQuit and Swastik.

Claim to fame: Working as a recording engineer at the NH7 Weekender (music fest) in Delhi, and chief systems and FOH engineer at USM Shimla Fest.

Best part about being a composer/engineer: Is that I’m lucky to be pursuing my hobby as my profession.

The cause you care for: Equality for women.

With just six months left to live, I would... Buy as much music and recording equipment as I can and compose and record.

My present state of mind: Satisfied.

My motto: Patience and perseverance go a long way.

My secret indulgence: Acting/theatre.

Pet peeve: Those who talk behind others’ backs.

My hero in real life: My mentors Anupam Roy and Keshav Dhar.

Beer or wine: Port wine.

If I woke up one day and realise I’ve turned into a woman, I would... Go lingerie shopping (laughs)

My biggest addiction: Recording music and playing PC games.

A Suggestion for budding singers/musicians: Its clichéd but true: Stay patient, practice very hard and work to seek perfection. Success shall follow.

Can’t do without this: My mom, phone and iPod.

About him:
Ranbeer is a musican and sound engineer running his own studio in the city, The Recording Room, where he also composes music. After earning an advanced diploma in computer engineering from Canada, he ventured into the relative unknown territory of technical aspect of music and learnt it all on his own. In 2006, he formed a band called Chapter 1 with a couple of friends in which Ranbeer was the vocalist. Soon, he started receiving offers from various bands to work as a recording and sound engineer with them. After handling ‘front of house’ (sound) duties for local bands such as IQuit and Swastik amongst others, he got his first major break when he was selected to work at the NH7 Weekender Festival in Delhi by his mentor. Apart from working in his studio, Ranbeer also freelances as a sound engineer. He is involved in working on the music of some feature and short films apart from producing the music for some bands from the northern region of the country. In his free time, the artist likes to pursue acting, reading, cooking and playing with his dog, Puggy.
