PGI celebrates 25 years of Doctor of medicine in Neonatology

To celebrate the completion of 25 years since the introduction of the Doctor of medicine in Neonatology in the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, an alumni meeting and a continuing medical education workshop was held on the PGIMER campus on Saturday.

According to a PGIMER release, 68 pediatricians have signed up for the neonatology course in PGIMER so far.

More than 100 alumni from across the country and the world attended the meeting.

Professor Sunit Singhi, head, pediatrics department, PU, welcomed the alumni, delegates and guests to the silver jubilee celebrations.

Professor BNS Walia complimented Professor ON Bhakoo and Professor Anil Narang, both former heads of the department, for introducing the programme.

Prof ON Bhakoo took a trip down the memory lane and recalled the trials and tribulations faced by the faculty during the first few years after the start of the programme.

He expressed great joy in seeing many of his ex-students assembled under the same roof.

At the inauguration ceremony, Professor Yogesh Chawla, PGIMER director, complimented the pediatrics department for being the first one in the country to introduce the course.
