PGIMER bids farewell to 4 professors

The faculty and students at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) bid farewell to four eminent professors of the institute on Wednesday. Dr Jyotsna Wig, DR SK Jindal, Dr S Prabhakar and Dr Ramesh Sen were given a send-off in a function at Lecture theatre-I at PGIMER campus.

The faculty and students at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) bid farewell to four eminent professors of the institute on Wednesday.

Dr Jyotsna Wig, DR SK Jindal, Dr S Prabhakar and Dr Ramesh Sen were given a send-off in a function at Lecture theatre-I at PGIMER campus.

PGIMER director Dr Yogesh Chawla, dean Dr Amod Gupta as well as former directors, various department heads and professors were present.

Dr Jyotsna Wig joined the institute as house surgeon in 1972 and rose to the position of anaesthesia department head. She has to her credit 15 chapters in books and 125 publications in journals of national and international repute.

Dr SK Jindal joined the institute in January, 1972 as junior resident and became the head of pulmonary medicine in 1988. During his career, he accomplished several investigational and multi-centre projects and published over 320 scientific papers and reviews.

Dr S Prabhakar joined PGIMER after graduation in 1972 and became the head of neurology department in 1993. He is also founder fellow of Indian Academy of Neurology and elected fellow of National Academy of Medical Sciences (FAMS). During his career, he delivered 6 orations as visiting professor, both in India and abroad and innumerable guest lectures. He has 220 paper in journals of national and international repute and 28 chapters in various text books.

Dr Ramesh Sen joined PGIMER as faculty in 1993. During his career he managed most dif ficult trauma cases, challenging joint replacement surgeries and complicated tumours.

He has to his credit eight inter national and 12 national academic awards and has participated as guest faculty in more than 250 academic meetings. Sen has to his credit 160 indexed publications.
