Getting a rap from the district consumer disputes redressal forum, SAS Nagar, over non-delivery of video movies and photographs of the 'sangeet' ceremony and 'akhand path', a Kharar-based photographer has been directed to pay Rs 5000 as compensation for harassment.

Disposing of a complaint filed by Surjit Singh of Dera Bassi, the consumer forum has ordered Rajesh Talwar, a photographer and wedding movie maker of Mundi Kharar, SAS Nagar, to hand over the video and photographs within one week or in alternative pay Rs 5000.

Complainant Surjit Singh had availed the services of Talwar for making video movies of the ladies 'sangeet', 'akhand path' and 'mehandi' ceremonies during his daughter's wedding on October 24, 2013, and October 26, 2013, after paying Rs 43,000.

Singh alleged Talwar, despite receiving the full payment, provided only two albums and video clips of wedding function, but the photo album and the movie related to the ladies 'sangeet' ceremony, 'akhand path' and 'mehandi' ceremony was not provided in spite of repeated requests.

Talwar also opted not to appear before the consumer forum despite being summoned. Thus, the case was proceeded ex-parte.

"Handwritten note of Rajesh Talwar admitted having taken photographs of the sangeet ceremony and promised to deliver the video by January 15, 2014, proves non-delivery of video movies and photographs,"observed the consumer forum presided over by Madhu P Singh.
