Piccadilly Cup: Veteran Club drub Royal Greater FC 5-2

Veteran Club drubbed Royal Greater FC 5-2 on Day Two of the ongoing Chandigarh senior state football championship for Piccadilly Cup at the Sector 17 Football Stadium, on Sunday.

For winners, Amit Kapoor (30th, 34th minutes), Arvind (34th minute), Sunil Sahani (45th minute) and Jatinder (50th minute) were the scorers, while Piyush (38th minute) and Horjot (40th minute) were the scorers for the losing side.

In another match, Uttarakhand defeated Royal Football Club (FC) 5-4 in a penalty shootout. Both teams failed to score any goal in the regulation time and the match was decided in a penalty shootout.

In the matches played at St John’s High School, Sector 26, Shark FC blanked PGI FC 5-0. Abhijit of Shark FC opened the account in the 12th minute of the match. Parabat doubled the lead for Shark FC in the 18th minute. Abhishek extended the lead further with a goal in the 21st minute of play. Shark FC continued their scoring spree with Abhijit adding the fourth in the 31st minute. Abhishek then rounded-off the winners tally with a strike in the 43rd minute of the match.

In the second match, DAV Club defeated City Club 2-0. Gaurav scored first goal for the winners in 33rd minute. At half time, DAV Club was leading 1-0. In the second half, Suraj Thapa doubled the lead with a goal in the 45th minute.

In the evening session, Bajwa club blanked Brotherhood Club 8-0. Dominating from the start, Bajwa Club drew first blood in the third minute of the match with Prabhjeet finding the back of the net. Prabhjeet then doubled the lead by finding the target in the 16th minute. Krishna and Varinder scored for Bajwa Club in 17th and 19th minute, respectively, to round-off the tally for the winners in the first half. In the second half, Bajwa Club added four more goals with Prabhjeet (43rd minute), Ravi (53rd and 56th minutes) and Rezual (56th minute) to complete an easy win.

Young Club, Dadumajra, defeated Burail Club 4-1. Burail FC took the lead in the fifth minute of the match with Nakul scoring an easy goal. But the lead was short lived as Ajay of Young Club equalised in seventh minute of the match. Goldy then found target in 23rd and 27th minutes of the game to give Young Club a two-goal cushion at the end of the first half. In the second half, Goldy scored his third goal in the 65th minute to complete the winners’ tally.

St Stephen’s Club registered a hard-fought 1-0 win over Chandigarh FC. Rahul Sharma was the lone scorer for the winners, converting a penalty awarded in the 35th minute of the match. In the second match, Minerva Club defeated Molon Labe 4-0. Aman of Minerva scored the first goal in the fourth minute of the match. Aman was again on target in the 10th and 18th minute of the game to complete his hat-trick. In the second half, Minerva scored in the 49th minute through Abhishek to complete the rout.
