The Centre has restored the security cover of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Highly placed sources revealed that the security of both Badal and Sukhbir has been restored on the intervention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The Punjab government had written to the Prime Minister to intervene after it learnt that the Union home ministry in a communiqué had decided withdraw the National Security Guard (NSG) cover of Badal and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) of Sukhbir.

Both Badal and Sukhbir are covered by the Union government under the category of central government proetectess and hence have been provided Z+ security. The Z+ security category is provided to those who are highly vulnerable to the serious threat perception.

After the Union government pruned the security cover of Badal and Sukhbir, the Punjab government had immediately taken up the issue with the Prime Minister.
