PNB official, jeweller booked for cheating

The police have booked two persons on the charges of cheating in separate incidents reported in Chandigarh on Sunday.

In the first incident, the police booked deputy manager of Punjab National Bank (PNB) on the charges of duping a resident of Uttar Pradesh on the pretext of sending him abroad.

Mandeep Singh, a resident of Bilaspur, UP, alleged that Balbir Singh, deputy manager PNB, Chandigarh, and a resident of Panchkula, took cash from complainant for providing Canadian work visa, but neither fulfilled their part of the deal nor returned the money.

A case of cheating has been registered under sections 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Sector-17 police station.

In another incident, Neena Bali, A resident of Sector 23, alleged that SuKumar Sau of Diya Jewellers, Sector 23, took Rs 60,000 in cash from her in instalments under chit-fund scheme. But on completion of scheme the accused person neither gave her jewellery nor returned the invested money. A case has been registered at the Sector-17 police station.
