Police interlock pieces of number plate to arrest hit-and-run accused

The police have solved a hit-and-run case with the arrest of Vipul Kumar, 20, of Atam Nagar area for causing death due to negligence on Saturday. However, he was released on bail on Sunday.
The police joined pieces of the number plate of the car that the accused was driving to locate him.
He is a student of bachelor of business administration (BBA) and also takes tuitions for students.
Inspector Ashok Kumar, SHO of the Model Town police station, said Vipul had hit the scooter on which Navneet Kaur and her friend Komal Preet Kaur were riding with his car on November 2. Navneet Kaur had died in the mishap.
The number plate of the car broke and fell on the spot.
The police had collected the pieces of the number plate and joined it to get the idea of the registration number of the car.
The police contacted the owner of the car after availing the name and the address of the car's owner. When the police contacted at the address, they came to know that they had sold the car. Eventually, the police reached Vipul and arrested him. The police have also confiscated his car.
Meanwhile, the family of Navneet Kaur performed her bhog ceremony at Gurdwara Sahib in Model Town on Sunday. MLA Balwinder Singh Bains, MLA Simrjit Singh Bains, councillor Arjun Singh Cheema and many others mourned the untimely death of Navneet, a student of Class 11.
