In an attempt to check entry of trouble-makers, the district police have stopped vehicular movement around the Gurudwara Chhevin Patshai, where supporters of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) are sitting on an indefinite dharna.

Sources in the administration said that on Sunday several people from Punjab had reached the gurdwara and it was suspected that arrival of more people may lead to violence.

HSGMC (ad hoc) president Jagdish Singh Jhinda had objected to entry of the armed people inside the gurdwara.

Meanwhile, superintendent of police Ashwin Shenvi said that the barricading at various strategic points was done to ensure the check the identity of the visitors. He said that traffic had been diverted and private vehicles were not allowed near the gurdwara premises.

He clarified that there was no bar on anyone from entering the gurdwara but the police were working to ensure that no unwanted person gains entry around the place.

"Situation is under control and we are maintaining a strict vigil on the movement of various persons. Adequate police force has been deployed at various places to ensure order in the city," he said.
