The police are yet to "find any evidence" against former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda, who is accused of abetting the suicide of Geetika Sharma, a former employee of his now defunct MDLR airlines. They have also issued notices to two of his workers.

A former airhostess with Kanda's now defunct MDLR airlines, Geetika Sharma committed suicide on Sunday. In the suicide note, she had accused the former Haryana minister and an MDLR official, Aruna Chaddha, of harassing her. The police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the two. Sharma's family, meanwhile, has demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the case.

"We have issued notices to Chaddha and Ankit Alhuwalia. Alhuwalia's name cropped up during the investigations," P Karunakaran, deputy commissioner of police (North-west), said, adding that they were yet to find any evidence against Kanda.

He said Geetika's mobile phone, laptop and a few other articles had been seized and her family provided security. "My sister last called me on Sunday around 1:15 am and told me that Kanda and Chaddha were driving her mad. She was afraid that Kanda will harm us," Ankit, brother of the deceased, said. He alleged that Kanda forced Geetika to sign a bond through which he would sponsor her MBA, but for that she had to work for his company without any salary. "My sister did not sign the bond," he added.
