Yamley Jatt Yamley
Film history: The 28-year-old Amritsar native shifted to Mumbai in 2006 after completing his BA from Panjab University, Chandigarh, in 2005. His journey in the film industry began as an assistant director, working on movies such as Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Rang De Basanti, Ammtoje Mann's Kaafila and Abhinav Kashyap's Dabangg. He eventually launched his own production company in 2011 called Sav Pal Productions which has its base in Mumbai.
"When I was in Amritsar, movies such as Gurinder Chadha's Bride and Prejudice and Yash Raj's Veer-Zara were in the process of production in the city. The role of the director and thought of sitting on the director's chair really fascinated me. As a director, the control is always in that person's hands and one has the power to showcase his vision. And, here I am today, directing my own movie," smiles Dadwal.
Debut film: Under Sav Pal Productions, he has produced, directed and acted in the upcoming movie, Yamley Jatt Yamley - The Urban Tadka. "I wrote the story in 2010 and the screenplay was later written by screenwriter Gurjind Mann. It's a romantic comedy which was shot in Punjab and Goa, starring actors Jonita Doda, Bharti Singh, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Rana Ranbir, Guggu Gill and Shavinder Mahal," says Dadwal about the movie that will release in mid-October.
He adds, "The movie's soundtrack is also an integral part of the production with songs sung
by music industry veterans such as Sukhwinder Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan, Feroz Khan, Lehmber Hussainpuri, Javed Ali and Surjit Khan."
Upcoming projects: Dadwal will start shooting for his second movie, Rambo, Ranjha and Romeo, in February 2013. This film, which is a story of three friends, will again see him multitask as the director, producer and actor. The cast has not yet been finalised.
