Stepping up its drive against corruption, the Punjab vigilance bureau (VB) on Wednesday launched a special online portal and toll-free number for the public to register complaints against corrupt activities.
Launching the portal and the toll-free number here, deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said the two new features would prove to be significant tools to involve the public in the campaign against corruption.
Users can upload photos and audio/video footage along with their online complaint on the website, he said.
"This would help the vigilant public to videograph or photograph any corrupt activities by public servants and upload these on the VB's website (www.vigilancebureaupunjab.org) so that it could take action against the guilty," an official spokesman said here.
People in Punjab can now register complaints on the newly-obtained toll-free number (1800-1800-1000) and provide details regarding any complaint or information, Sukhbir said.
Chief director, VB, Suresh Arora said it was accessible through all kinds of gadgets such as mobile phones, I-pads, desktop and laptop computers and would also provide an online help desk for the NRI community. It would also have the facility to lodge and check the status of complaints online, he added.
