Power supply to parts of the civil lines remained suspended for about eight hours, affecting the work at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) headquarters and a number of media offices in Srinagar on Saturday.

The supply was stopped at 10.15am from several feeders, including Barbarshah disconnecting power to BSNL, government press, main telephone exchange, AFP, UNI and hindi daily Dainik Jagran on Exchange road and other areas.

A senior officer of Power Development Department (PDD) said there some repair work besides branch cutting in some areas of the city.

"We had to switch off the supply till the branch cutting is over," he said adding, "it will take about eight hours."

BSNL and other media offices had to switch over to their own generators.
