The members of the People's Party of Punjab on Sunday held a protest march demanding change of the name of the upcoming international terminal at SAS Nagar from the Chandigarh International Airport to the Shaheed-e-Azam International Airport.

After protest, the members went to the residence of SAS Nagar deputy commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu in Phase 5 and handed over a memorandum to him.

In a press statement, Kirat Singh, president, SAS Nagar youth wing of the PPP, said, "The state government should pursue the matter regarding changing the name to pay a tribute to our martyrs who fought for this country's freedom. Earlier, the state had proposed 'Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh International Airport' as the name of the airport. However, recently, a signboard was put up near the entrance of the airport saying 'Chandigarh International Airport'. The move has shocked all across the country, as our governments seem to have forgotten the martyrs."
