The local police have arrested a youth of Butana village for allegedly raping a minor who was "accidently diagnosed" as 31 weeks pregnant by doctors at the civil hospital here on Friday.
The suspect, identified as Mahinder Singh (26), has been charged with rape, issuing threats to the victim and other charges of the Indian Penal Code.
Both the victim and the suspect belong to a backward class.
Superintendent of police Shashank Anand on Saturday said: "The victim alleged that Mahinder used to visit her often at her house and abuse her sexually."
Anand said the family had claimed that they were not aware of their daughter being raped by the village youth and the victim had not named any other person involved in the crime.
The suspect had reportedly told the police that he and the girl were in a relationship for the past several months.
However, the district administration has decided to bear all expenses of the girl and an exclusive room has been allotted to her at the hospital.
Anand said after the delivery, the DNA sample of the baby would be matched with that of the suspect.
