Congress candidate for Patiala parliamentary constituency Preneet Kaur addressed hundreds of Congress workers at the residence of former minister Nirmal Singh's residence in Cantonment on Monday.
Seeking their support, Kaur urged the workers to work for her as the neighbouring districts of Ambala and Patiala have century-old emotional ties. She claimed that Ambala workers can influence large number of voters in her constituency.
Flaying the SAD-BJP government in Punjab, she said people are fed up with the misrule of Akalis and would vote against them on April 30 elections.
Kaur alleged that youth in Punjab had been being driven towards narcotics and the name of cabinet minister Majithia had also got involved into the trade. She also alleged that the state government was shielding him.
"There is no Modi wave in Punjab and the voters have come back into Congress fold due to party's progressive polices. The results will surprise the political pundits."
Earlier, welcoming Congress candidate Nirmal Singh and his councillor daughter Chitra Sarwara assured her of their help claiming that in next fortnight large number of workers would campaign in the neighbouring villages.
Several local leaders from Naggal and Ambala City assembly segments were also present on the occasion.
