President police award for Jagbir, Avtar

A 1979 batch deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Jagbir Singh will be awarded with the President Police medal for meritorious service.

A 1979 batch deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Jagbir Singh will be awarded with the President Police medal for meritorious service.


Singh joined police services as a probationer assistant sub-inspector (ASI), was promoted as inspector in 1989 and rose to the rank of deputy superintendant of police (DSP) in 2007. He has remained the station house officer (SHO) in Sectors 3, 11, 17, 26, 36, 39 and Manimajra.

Avtar Singh, inspector, on rank promotion (ORP), has also been bestowed with President Police medal for his distinguished services. Avtar joined Chandigarh police as a constable in 1979 and was promoted as a sub-inspector in 2009. Later, he got the rank of ORP in November 2012. He has remained with the Police Control Room and CID and won the President medal for meritorious service in 1997 as well. Avtar is currently posted with the UT inspector general of police (IGP) RP Upadhyaya's office.
