President's medal for IG Ishwar Singh who leads Punjab's war on drugs

Inspector general (IG) Ishwar Singh, director of Punjab State Narcotics Control Bureau, has been nominated for President's Police Medal for his distinguished service to his department and society.

Ishwar Singh is a 1993-batch IPS (Indian Police Service) officer who started his career as assistant superintendent of police at Sutanpur Lodhi. He has also served as senior superintendent of police in Hoshiarpur, Barnala, Nawanshahr, Khanna, Bathinda, Gurdaspur, and Jalandhar; deputy inspector general (DIG) in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Jalandhar zone-2; police commissioner in Ludhiana, and Jalandhar; and IG in Patiala zone-1.

He has received 50th Independence Anniversary Medal; Republic Day Police Medal for Meritorious service in 2009; and state award for community policing on August 15, 2014.
