UT administrator Shivraj V Patil came under severe criticism from various pressure groups of the city in a meeting with union minister of state (home affairs) Kiren Rijiju at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Sector 33 on Friday evening.
Almost all groups, including traders’ bodies, resident welfare associations, industrialist groups and delegation of villagers, demanded that the administrator be removed and commissionerate system be re-adopted for running the city administration.
Replying to their demand, Rijiju said the government would take a decision after looking into the complaints of various bodies.
He also said all long-pending files of issues of Chandigarh people would be cleared very soon and he would convey all pending issues of Chandigarh administration issues to the department concerned.
Meanwhile, members of various groups had a tough time meeting Rijiju as he met them in Tandon’s office, which proved to be small to meet all delegations. The representatives of these groups were seen jostling for space.
Earlier, he addressed the party workers and congratulated them for their victory in the city after three consecutive defeats at the hands of Congress.
City BJP chief Sanjay Tandon, party affairs incharge Arti Mehra and local MP Kirron Kher were also present on the occasion.
