For 22-year-old Prince Dhawan, studying for the civil services exam was never about putting in a set number hours. "I just set a target for the day, and met that." The approach, though unconventional, has worked rather well for the young engineer - he has secured the third rank in the results of the UPSC exam 2011 results declared on Friday.
Prince is the topper among those from the tricity of Chandigarh, Panchkula and SAS Nagar. A total of nine candidates from the tricity have made it to the top 100 in a list of 910. The overall topper is Delhi doctor Shena Aggarwal, followed by Hoshiarpur girl Rukmani Riar.
Son of income tax commissioner KK Dhawan and homemaker Indu Dhawan, Prince did his BTech in electrical engineering and then MTech in information and communication technology from IIT-Delhi. A resident of Sector 36, he chose electrical engineering and public administration as his subjects in the examination.
